We thought that last ANZAC Day 'may well have been the best attended in the Club’s history'. We weren't quite correct. Attendances at both the Dawn Service and the Main Service in 2022 exceeded those of last year and reflected what took place across the country.
The excellent Dawn Service, conducted by Peter Dane was attended by about 350. Lindsay McTye provided a photo presentation on the wall of the Pat Murnane Memorial Hall which reflected the 80th anniversary of a pivotal moment for Australia during World War II - the bombing of Darwin. Percy Thomas Everett (WW1- ANZAC) was the subject of the Veteran Dedication, provided by Adele McTye.
The ODE was recited by our Patron John Opie OAM, at both the Dawn and Main Services.
The Dawn Service was followed by breakfast in the Clubrooms.
The Main Service (and March) were also very well attended by about 490. Again an excellent Main Service conducted by Peter Dane and the Rev. Bill Stewart.
Ronald Allen 'Nedda' Park (WW2) was the subject of of the Veteran Dedication, also provided by Adele McTye. Mr Craig Deayton provided the ANZAC Address.
The contribution by the respective choirs, bands, participation by our local schools and the laying of wreaths at both services all contributed to a fantastic Commemorative Service.
It is appropriate to mention Peter Dane's contribution to our major LVRSL Commemorative Events. His contribution over a number of years can only be described as outstanding. His project management skills are preeminent.
Peter is supported by our volunteers and sent a thankyou memo to them following the ANZAC Day Services. It was a team effort - no doubt about it..........
Note: Photographs have also been provided by Peter Dane - with numerous additional photos available on the Facebook page.
