Remembrance Day was attended by close to a 100 people in 2021.
Our Patron, John Opie OAM, was in good fettle and recited the Ode.
Oscar Fitzpatrick and Emily Lang, students from Sacred Heart College, respectively recited the poems ‘In Flanders Field’ and ‘We Shall Keep the Faith’.
The College choir provided wonderful support, including with the singing of both the New Zealand (in both Māori and English); and, Australian national anthems!
Once again it was very pleasing to see students laying wreaths and playing an active role in our traditions - thanks to the schools, teachers and students.
The Club would also like to extend thanks to Matt Garvin, Noel Hunt (trumpeter without peer) and Michael Wilson who willingly gave their time and expertise to ensure the service was conducted smoothly and with respect.
Finally a special thank you to the wonderful work by Peter Dane for once again coordinating a very successful remembrance day! Following his marvelous work in arranging the memorable Anzac Day earlier in the year.
