The Lenah Valley RSL (LVRSL) was delighted to receive a visit from Guy Barnett MP, Minister for Veterans Affairs on Tuesday 17 January, 2023.
Minister Barnett, the Minister for Veterans' Affairs launched the 2022-23 `Teddy' Sheean Memorial Grants Program - Round 2, noting that applications are now open.
Minister Barnett stated that "The Rockliff Liberal Government is a proud supporter of Tasmania’s service men and women and the tremendous contribution made by our ex‑service community in Tasmania.
"The Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program was established as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice made by Tasmanian sailor Edward ‘Teddy’ Sheean VC, who gave his life for his country and fellow shipmates during a battle in 1942 off the coast of East Timor".
"The Grants Program honours Teddy Sheean VC as a representative of the many Tasmanians who selflessly fought and served and gave their lives for others in the defence of this country’’ he said.
LVRSL has previously been successful in obtaining grants under the program, most recently for the provision of New Safety and Security Lights.
Minister Barnett later joined a number of the LVRSL Committee including President Mike Howarth and some of our Members for a light morning tea.
